We Nigerians in particular or the Black in general are special breeds. I don't just know what we want. If dem do we go complain and if dem no do, we go still complain. Are we saying government should fold their hands and not do anything because there is hunger in the land? People are already celebrating that road because it has opened up the whole place for opportunities. A friend of mine said their family's land is very close to one of the roads linking the fly-over that very soon they are going to make fortune because that place has been opened up. Which one do we want? Do a seemingly "not-needed" projects or embezzle the money? We need to pick an option. Whether this project is noteworthy or not is a matter of perception. Those who were abusing Amosun of constructing 5 flyovers in Abeokuta then are the ones taking selfies at the same fly-overs now. Such is life. Don't mind me, I just wanna talk to myself. I'm kinda with you on this. Personally, I think the flyovers (there's another similar one inside Osogbo itself) and connecting roads being constructed are necessary. For one, the road to Osogbo via Ibadan is in a terrible state -- it's not a straight road at all and one will have to do a u-turn to the other side at some point to connect Osogbo from the freeway, and there's an abandoned part leading to the capital that I understand is a Federal road and is in a worse state with so much red-earth that messes up your car. It's an utter disgrace that the road to the capital city is so clumsy and terrible. I think this flyover will go a long with in making the road to the capital much more straight-forward and smoother.

My question is why do we have to choose between an unnecessary project and having the money embezzled. Why can't we have the money spent where it would do the most good?

We have to make the choice because we are a special breed. We sometimes allow our sentiments to overrule reasons. Now is this project unnecessary? My answer is no. With this road, interstate traffic don't have to pass through Osogbo and cause gridlock as usual. For, instance, if you are going along Ikirun, Okuku, Inisa, Ofa, Ajase all the way to Ilorin, you don't have to pass through the main metropolis. The road provides a bypass so that you can just come out at Ikirun Road thereby saving some travelling time. Likewise, if you're coming from the same axis, you just bypass Osogbo and come out at very close to Abere to continue your journey. This is the way I see it cos I have passed through it.
