I must confess that I kind of like the attention the guy is seriously giving to the Rock City much to the chagrin of other towns in the State. This is what we've been clamouring for all these years. I've always dreamed of a time when Abeokuta would be filled with superstructures like it is obtainable elsewhere; and conveniently people could just take a train to Lagos and be back without hassle. Amosun is fulfulling the dream and I think the indigenes are also keying into this vision. Maybe we should adopt a model whereby the governor will adopt a city/town and develop it to his own world class taste by providing durable infrastructure. By so doing, the governors would start outdoing themselves just from the competition such model offers. When Gbenga Daniel was there, he concentrated most of his attention in Sagamu/Ijebu Ode axis. The Egbas cried and shouted but at the end of the day, they survived. What I don't like is unhealthy rivalry whereby they would be threatening themselves or abusing their powers. God save the motherland. "'Oju wa ni yoo se, a o r'emi loo"

I don't know how true that is and what he meant in terms of cluster. Fish farmers? Fish markets?

Audu ogbeh said Ìjẹ̀bú has the largest fish cluster in Africa I don't know how true that is and what he meant in terms of cluster. Fish farmers? Fish markets? I think he was referring to Eriwe village in Ijebu: “When we came last two years, Nigeria was producing about 700,000 tonnes of fish but this has increased to about 1.1 million tonnes, which means that there has been an increment of 400 tonnes and the rise in the statistics was attributed to the contribution of Ijebu community,” he said. According to the minister, the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) had described Ijebu as having the highest number of fish clusters in the world and expressed happiness that other Nigerians like Bayelsa people were coming to Ijebu community to learn fish farming in order to leverage on their water bodies: “This is not a case where the fish is brought from other areas to come and sell in a particular market. The fish is produced right there in Ijebu Ode and that is why the FAO said this is commendable; it’s a model that is recommended for the whole world.” Source

Why we reviewed Lagos-Ibadan-Kano rail project – FG
THE Federal Government said it has reviewed the Lagos-Ibadan-Kano rail project by relocating its station within the MKO Abiola Trade Fair Complex in Abeokuta to avoid the demolition of houses, numbering about 2,000.
Speaking in Abeokuta on Sunday during a working visit to the sites, the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, declared that Federal Government considered the review of the rail project and relocation of the rail station to MKO Abiola Trade Fair Complex in Abeokuta in order to save demolition of thousands of houses that are within the right of way of the rail lines and rail station to be located in Abeokuta.
He said: “We are working with Ogun State government as well as Lagos State government but it is just that there are more problems in Lagos State as a result of cosmopolitan status of Lagos State. That is the same problem we have met in Abeokuta as a result of cosmopolitan status.
“But the problem in Abeokuta is not gas and petroleum pipes. In fact, the land we have acquired for the project appears to have been overtaken by the people who are building houses and then, we have made a decision to move to other location, we believe that we should relocate to a better place for business, people and passengers. That is where we are going to now, the MKO Abiola Trade Fair Complex.
“What you can see is that we have relocated the station now to a conducive place where the demolition of number of houses will be reduced by more than a thousand. Even, when the governor saw the number of houses to be demolished, he fought and we have agreed to relocate it to MKO Abiola Trade Fair Complex. Now, this is where the station will be. We are building a rail station, a hotel and malls.”
It will be recalled that the Lagos-Ibadan-Kano rail project which starts in Apapa, Lagos state with stretches to Ebute-Meta -Papalanto-Abeokuta-Ibadan which is proposed to terminate in Kano state is designed to have a station at Papalanto.
Amosun commends FG
Responding, Governor Ibikunle Amosun lauded the Federal Government for the railway lines and Amaechi’s discretion to save thousands of houses on the rail right of way.
He said: “We met there, and we took some decision together to demolish over 1,000 houses and I said this will not happen under our watch. Yes, we demolish when we don’t have any alternatives, but this one, No. That’s what I’ve said on behalf of 7.2 million good people of Ogun State.
“We are now demolishing MKO Abiola Trade Fair Complex, but the good news is that we are relocating it to a better place, we are going to put it in another place in order to avoid demolishing almost 2,000 houses.” Imagine, the number of families and people the demolition will affect and we have said, no. They will now create engineering solution here. The Trade Fair Complex will now be our rail station-Abeokuta Rail Station.”

It was moved from papalanto to trade fair cos of the Abeokuta City Centre Project for easy access and movement of passengers. Also, in order to save demolition of thousands of houses that are within the right of way of the rail lines Papalanto is still included. There are 9 stations in all. I read it in Tolu Ogunlesi's TL on twitter. I think Ogun got 3 stations - Papalanto, Trade Fair Abeokuta and Olodo. Oyo got Omi Adio and Dugbe and the last 4 are in Lagos. I'll search for the link and post it later. Omi Adio and Ilugun are still dragging Inland Dry Port location. But I know Amosun will prevail on Amaechi to site it in Ilugun. If for no other reason, afterall, their names start with "Am".

It's like we don jazz people for Ogun State .
I learnt from a reliable source that GTB is moving her headquarters to Abeokuta. Their new building is beside the new project Amosun is pursuing wholeheartedly. Whoever has eyes for the future will definitely know that this is the time to buy landed properties in Abeokuta particularly those towns/villages on the fringe of Lagos Ibadan express or Lagos Abeokuta express.
My only concern is if Abeokuta will be able to handle the upsurge of people that will besiege it after the completion of the Lagos Ibadan rail.
