Short_Biscuit , there is nothing lovely about these pictures jor We need to re-plan all our cities The 'lovely' remark was directed at some wholesome pictures I sighted on the thread. But I do agree with you about our need to re-plan our cities. How that will be achieved is the million-dollar question. I imagine that it would be extremely difficult to convince some of our folks about the need and benefits of an all-encompassing Urban Renewal policy -- and unless there's a war or natural disaster that necessitates this, I don't see it happening anytime soon. Personally, I feel that our people need to take property maintenance more seriously. If I had my way, I'd enact a draconian law that would make it mandatory for every house to be re-painted every other year, and banish the use of zinc roofs in the entire region. These two policies will certainly give the entire region a more aesthetically pleasing look. I see no reason why Ibadan can't look like Valparaiso, Chile, considering their topographical similarities. Here's a pix of Valparaiso:

With regards to the attitude of our people, I know that'll be very difficult. We need governors with iron fists.Enough of that we're preserving our Great Grand-dad's architecture nonsense .There are other things we can preserve.Another issue is the fact that all our governors can't be the same.It would have been much more easier If we had just one leader but that can only happen in a regional state.Very good point on the painting aspect and the banishing of zinc roofs(the brown zinc precisely ) There is also the issue of poor quality of roads, open drains,on-street parking and all that There's a lot to do honestly.
