I'm going to make this short. Religious Pluralism is living its last days in the Yoruba land. Truth is, in recent times, we have increasingly become a nation divided by religion. To add insult to injury, we have our outside enemies using religious divide to further their conquest of the Yoruba race(as witnessed from Afonja's era to the last election). Gone are those days where you witness marriages between Yorubas of different religious background, without any animosity from both parties. Nowadays, there is pressure for one of the couple to convert. Religion has become an identity of its own in Yorubaland and I love to challenge those who think otherwise.
The Pluralism even divides us further. An example is watching the Yorubas argue about Israel/Palestine conflicts, two nations that don't give two fucks about the well being of the average Yoruba.
While the Christians are quick to defend Israel, the Muslims have this undivided loyalty towards Palestine. It even goes further into Nigeria politics, and we saw how religion was used against the Yoruba, during the last election.
The other side of the issue is the Isese(Traditional religion). There are more outsiders practicing our traditional faith than the Yorubas in Nigeria.
This is not a good thing at all. The outsiders are currently trying to appropriate Yoruba Orisas as theirs, while the Isese people back home are eager to sell their culture. Soon, we will have White Osuns and White Ogun parading the internet. You can find some pictures already on facebook.
It is future Yorubas that will regret it. And the reason why I mentioned the Future Yorubas, today I just read the news about one of the ISIS bride, who is of Yoruba origin. She now has a biracial son, who is also taking terrorism seriously.(http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3383516/Is-Jihadi-Junior-British-toddler-sick-new-execution-video-bears-striking-resemblance-son-woman-fled-London-Syria.html)
Lets not forget the Lee Rigby killers and many more to come. While I don't oppose Religious Pluralism, I think it is high time Yorubas stop believing in this Fart. Religion played a big part in the lost of Ilorin, the same almost happened in Lagos. Religious fanaticism is common in the Yorubaland. From the Yoruba pastors preaching for islamic segregation, to Yoruba islamist preaching against traditionalism(and insulting our Orishas). Muslim buying up orisa lands to build their mosque on it. Christians demeaning and selling Yoruba artifacts. Religious apartheid against the traditionalist children attending Christian schools. Susanne Wenger was attacked by Yoruba muslims when she tried to save Osun groove, is this not religious fanaticism? It is happening in the Yorubaland, and the more we pretend that it doesn't, the more it will get worst than it already has. Let us face our fears, Yoruba people. With three terrorist added to the name our race, it is only a matter of time.
