Really good news! This sort of thing should have been happening a long time ago. I wonder what has changed now to allow this to go forward?

omohayek is 30MW enough to power all the industries along that axis? I guess the reason why it came this late is because of the whole National grid nonsense

Independent power generation is the way to go in this Nigeria, honestly speaking. It would be better if planners stopped locating every new development right on the main roads though. It would be better if that power plant was located more inland towards the Shagamu axis and ports power towards settlement along he express corridor. I the US and other parts of the developed world, development radiates outwards from the inside not inwards from the road nodes.

yes lol, Lagos Ibadan the highway is choked with too much stoff, and Ogun get plenty land.
Development should spread like Germany which is a better model and not concentrate like the UK.

omohayek is 30MW enough to power all the industries along that axis? I guess the reason why it came this late is because of the whole National grid nonsense No, I'd think 10 or 20 times that amount would be needed just for now, with demand ramping up over time as more businesses are drawn by reliable power. Still, it's a start, and 30MW is still a lot more than the 1MW I remember them capping non-regulated operators at. Hopefully the success of this effort will allow either these guys or competitors to quickly expand capacity. The sad thing about all this is that the DISCOs themselves probably could have met the necessary supply and reliability requirements for even 3GW if they weren't crippled by so many stupid regulations meant to provide "cheap" electricity to the retail sector. If GEJ's privatization process had ensured that the DISCOs could carry out price discrimination, charging more for stronger availability guarantees, and given them greater freedom to enter into flexible contracts with businesses, at least the commercial sector could have been sorted out, even if price-capped retail electricity supply remained spotty; faster industrial growth would then have eventually delivered the mass purchasing power to pay for reliable retail electricity at realistic prices. Instead, in a bid to pander to voters, they chained the destiny of the retail and business sectors together, with neither being able to get the power they need no matter how much they're willing to pay.

Check the Osun thread Yeah. I know a young lady who manufactures pet bottles and polythene bags at the Agbara industrial cluster, and she informed me that herself and other manufacturers enjoy uninterrupted electricity that's supplied by an IPP in the area. And she also said the cost isn't that much compared to running generators.

Honorebu , Short_Biscuit , Ogbeni Ogunnaike , omoolowu Her Highness AgbongboAkala BelmotSome good news - they have now started work on the Lagos-Ibadan Rail project, and in even better news, the FG has provided the full funds for the project to the Chinese company building it, so no need to worry about it being sabotaged by NASS members looking for "constituency" projects to use as vehicles for embezzlement.

Niice. I knew there was no way that project would have been impeded That's the most important rail project in the country Shame on those clowns representing us in the Senate for making things get to that point

The pace at which they work is also very important.
