There is pedestrian one Mimiko beautified at Oja Erinkesan in Akure now. At least that is the only one in the whole of Ondo State. Don't worry as you celebrate dual carriage way once upon a time, one of these days you will also celebrate flyovers.

I saw his post on nairaland somewhere condemning abeokuta and some of the projects. Is that so? I think I understand why he's doing it. Why?

This is exactly what I've been saying. Kudos to the governor that he was even thinking in that direction. Those artists would feel connected to those projects and they would likely go there to protect them because they are products of their creativity. They would want to showcase it to every one that matters. This should also be done in the area of housing. Let the students of higher institutions and artisans including professionals come together to design model houses that the masses can afford using local materials such as bamboo, mud, raffia palm etc. This will be a template that will also stimulate enterpreneurship in those students. "Ti o ba pe ti akololo ba ti n pe ba ba ba, to ba ya yoo pe baba".

Anyway, I just feel that a time has come for us to take this forum to the next level if we desire to be taken serious. Going by the wonderful contributions of some members here, we could pool these resources together and come up with tangible product. Take tourism for example, we could create something like a Tourist Guide/Map Mobile App of a particular town, highlighting the places of attraction in such town, hotel accommodations, the people, their culture, the language, and even help in little translation like "Mo fe ra aso". We can take a particular town as a pilot, explore all the resources available about that town and then test run it. We can even have a 3D demo showcasing the beauties of that place. We then package in such a way that a tourist will have every reason to visit that place. This can then serve as template for other towns so that we can help the government in boosting the revenue. Let me stop here to get your input.

It looks more like an idea that should be forwarded to the Government rather than something we should do ourselves
Speaking of 3d demo, I don't really buy that because 3d demos are fake not real. What I think will make a whole lot of sense is a proper documentary
I need to take time to get my head wrapped around this.

I need to take time to get my head wrapped around this.If we put our minds to it and we are able to pool resources together, we can fashion out a template and even send it to DAWN to push it to the relevant authority. Like I said, we don't need to do everything, we only need to concentrate on a particular place. We can then come up with a proposal or rather a working document on the project. Seeing is believing. Someone like Aregbesola who is in dire need of revenue might even be contacted. We have simplified the whole thing. They can just do a little modification and start using it. Even if they don't acknowledge us, they will know that at least this comes from here. To make it simpler, we can outline the important areas we want, and then concentrate our research on it.

I actually feel it's possible. It just seems like a really huge task that will take a lot of time and dedication. You have to take it as a job. What I'm suggesting is that we come up with the blueprint(what should be done) and send it to them
Make we dey see sha

AgbongboAkala I like your thinking....I think in due time this forum can be used to mobilize fellow Yorubas to initiate projects that seeks to uplift the Yoruba commonwealth both at home and in the diaspora in various areas they may be passionate about. The reality is government and DAWN cannot do everything....you dey wait for government to do stuff you will achieve little to nada.I was particularly impressed by the lady who commented on the thread whilst it was on NL where she mentioned that herself and a few folks in the diaspora are contributing towards the rehabilitation of a school in Lagos.I honestly believe in the power of small changes being initiated by little acts...just my opinion.
