If not for the burial rites wanene, I would have loved to join Obatala. I really like their regalia.
I would have attended the Festival if I was in Ife. Beautifullllll
Isese Lagba. Tradition is still The Supreme.
Oodua A Gbe Wa.

What is that long cane, and what is its purpose? I can't recall the name right now but back then it used to be soaked in charms and used to flog folks who refuse to honour the 'stay inside' rule when the procession is on or to engage the Isooro Oduduwa - our supposed mortal enemy group.

Tradition is still The Supreme. Oodua A Gbe Wa. What is this burial rite sir? If you initiate, there's no burial rite to fulfill or be bothered about. Except you take further steps to: - Join Ogboni Obatala (the source of all Ogboni). - Become an Itapa chief. Both or either cases above require ''must do' burial rites.

Omo Oba of the Source , nice pictures. Egbon mi, e lucky o. Na only you dey waka up and down for festival? I wish I was that lucky. I'm not impressed with the environment at all..... why does the SW give me an eyesore? Isn't it about time that the ancient region modernize? Must we set up rules and laws before we start seeing nice looking buildings? See as the dirty walls, dusty roads and brown roof just spoil the whole thing for me. Who go come here for tourism? PS: Is that you in your profile? Handsome dude #YorubaBoys for days.

There's something seriously wrong with us Yorubas. If na ritual and gods festivals, na we do am pass.
But when it comes to fighting to make our language a required criteria in our region, we cower to the foolish #oneNigeria nonsense.
I still see some Yoruba ediots on social media fighting for #NonYorubas, while the other tribes won't even blink an eye to fight for us or our people.
Until Yoruba becomes a required credential in our curriculum, I'm unwilling to take " tradition still supreme" serious.
As for the fake boogie Yoruba folks forcing English on their children at home (in Nigeria) and not letting them speak Yoruba, your kids still have Yoruba accents. So stop assuming that by doing what you're doing, they'll have more opportunities. They don't. They still sound like normal folks that speak Yoruba.
