I think due to limited resources , whatever system is used for folks in the rural areas should just have a basic water collection and storage system as shown in the diagram below.Growing up we had an electric pump to pump the water into the house but due to Naija electricity problems it would make more sense for them to collect the water directly from the tank via a tap.In terms of filters...if the cost of a ready-made filter is too expensive perhaps they might have to use a sand filter.They can also construct a concrete tank should the cost of a plastic tank is too expensive.
