ART and culture enthusiasts especially lovers of fashion will experience the beauty and richness of the Lady of Africa Arts and Craft exhibition which opens in Lagos.
The exhibition which is designed to promote the Adire products is put together by President and Founder of Lady of Africa Empowerment and Advocacy Foundation, Princess Sandra Bukola Fasuyi will open on Friday March 25 and run till Monday 28 at the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Iganmu, Lagos.
The exhibition is open to exhibitors who will experience the beauty and richness of the African culture that will be on display.
The foundation will also be taking the Adire promotion to Europe and America, to satisfy the craving of lovers of the Adire fabric in those parts of the world. Also, the foundation will organise Adire carnival on October 1 at the National Council for Arts and Culture Hall, Iganmu Lagos. Lady of Africa Foundation also hopes to empower up to 20million Nigerian women and youths through its various activities.
Already, lots of people in the country – privileged and the less privileged have been empowered through direct and indirect job opportunities created by the foundation through its various promotion and marketing of the fabric.
The foundation is however seeking supports and partnership from culture-loving people, corporate organisations, federal and state governments and parastatals towards ensuring that this dream comes to fruition.
According to Princess Fasuyi, the vision of Lady of Africa Empowerment and Advocacy Foundation is to eradicate laziness, poverty, crime, and unemployment from our society and to touch the lives of less-privileged people in Nigeria and Africa through upliftment and empowerment, in order to ensure that the less-privileged people become useful to themselves, family, state and the country at large.
“Lady of Africa Empowerment and Advocacy Foundation hopes to empower millions of people directly or indirectly, through seminars, exhibitions, carnivals and cultural activities in the country.
“The mission of Lady of Africa Empowerment and Advocacy Foundation is to support the less-privileged people in the society by waking them up from their slumbers and creating employment opportunities for them and make the world a better place for all. In the course of our activities, the most urgent question often asked is, ‘What have you done to so far?’ She noted that the foundation believes the time is now to take Nigerian fashion to global platform and inevitably make Nigeria a home for all fashion lovers.
The foundation has been recognised and endorsed by the National Council of Arts & Culture, as well as the Lagos State Council for Arts & Culture. The two organisations have vowed to collaborate and partner with the foundation in her activities and future endeavours.
The objectives of the foundation include to create better opportunities for the less privileged people, which include the widows, widowers, orphans, and handicapped as well as create a brighter future for the less-privileged people across the country.
The foundation therefore seeks support for people in these categories both in kind and financially from government, parastatals, corporate organisations, as well as private individuals.
