The job is quite attractive to me. I've been to IBM's design studio and I'm so in love with it. That's the problem, I don't have much time. She rescheduled it for Monday, so I'll prompt her to make her offer quickly. Just wondering how I'd word it to her. The other offers I have are equally yummy, but I've been in love with IBM for a long time now. I'd say just tell her the truth - that you're very interested in the job, but the postponement of the interview has left you in a tough position, and you'd like to know if they can speed up the process so you aren't forced into an impossible situation. I think any reasonable recruiter would accept that it's their duty to go the extra mile for you under the circumstances. Excellent reply! Sometimes they ask and sometimes they don't. In this case, if they don't ask, I'll start with a "How much longer do you think the selective process is going to take? I ask because...*very interested in the job, but the postponement of the interview has left you in a tough position, and you'd like to know if they can speed up the process so you aren't forced into an impossible situation*..... I think any reasonable recruiter would accept that it's their duty to go the extra mile for you under the circumstances. It is something he should use to his advantage in IBM and the other two companies. @ibm he makes the recruiter know he is considering other offers, recruiters will tell HR manager and his future line manager that the dude is hot cake. More leverage with salary negotiations. For the other companies, you can tell them you are considering offers from IBM and they may open up more room to negotiate since you are a hot resource and everybody seems to really want you. Those are some of the things I consider when I am hiring people. The more companies want you, the better we'll value you. Very true. |
