Ooni of Ife’s 100 acres cashew plantation excites NCAN
The National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN) says it is excited about Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife’s interest to invest in cashew plantation. The National Publicity Officer of NCAN, Mr. Sotonye Anga, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos that the plantation would cover 100 acres of land in Ile-Ife, Osun. Anga said that this was coming at a time when the association was driving toward establishing new cashew plantations across the country. The NCAN spokesperson said that existing cashew plantations were over 50 years old and the need for new ones was important. I am pleased to announce that the Ooni of Ife, His Royal Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has joined Nigeria’s cashew family. The Ooni is now a cashew farmer and by farming cashew, we can build the future of Nigeria’s cashew and earn more foreign exchange and reduce the pressure on the Naira. The dynamic traditional ruler took to cashew farming so as to create jobs and make Osun the leading cashew powerhouse in Nigeria and worldwide. The state of the art modern cashew plantation owned by the Ooni covers over 100 acres of land in the heart of Yorubaland,’’ Anga said. He also revealed that the opening of the plantation has been scheduled for June 7 to kick-start the 2016 cashew planting season and cashew expansion programme. According to him, the establishment of cashew plantations will create diverse opportunities for other businesses to flourish. He said: “Cashew plantation establishment is labour intensive and starting one has multiplier effects and creates diverse opportunities for other ancillary businesses to flourish. It will stimulate economic activities in rural areas, encourage urban to rural migration as people will go to where the money is and help diversify the nation’s economy. So, we are proud of this giant step taken by the Ooni of Ife in establishing a cashew plantation and we urge more well meaning Nigerians to do the same. Cashew is money making, health promoting, soil-conserving and environment-friendly crop’’. NAN reports that the Ministers of Agriculture and Rural Development; Trade and Investment, Gov. Rauf Aregbesola and other dignitaries will grace the plantation’s opening in Ile-Ife on June 7. www.today.ng/news/national/133328/ooni-ifes-100-acres-cashew-plantation-excites-ncan

The Presiding Pastor of Kingdom Light Ministries (KLM), Lagos, Dr. Samson Makinwa, and the Ooni of Ife, His Royal Majesty Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, have signed a contract for the supply of equipment in Ile-Ife kingdom. Explaining the purpose of the contract, Dr. Makinwa, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Techo-Quip Limited, producers of different industrial equipment, said: “We are partnering with the Ooni to supply industrial equipment that would help people in processing and preserving different agricultural products and other raw materials into finished and semi-finished products in the kingdom. This will create employment, as well serve as a training ground for youths and the entire kingdom in self-employment and development.” Makinwa explained that his firm would be supplying the equipment and train participants on vocations, while Ife Business School would train people on entrepreneurship and skill acquisition. The Oba, who is the Chairman of Techo-Quip Ltd. before his ascension to the throne, according to Makinwa, is using his company’s products to establish industries in the kingdom through constant electricity supply, water and access roads to the industrial park location. “This is not common of a royal father in the country. Oba Enitan Ogunwusi is not only a traditional ruler, but also a transformational, modest and philanthropist, whom God installed to help his people out of poverty and unemployment,” Makinwa said. In his response, Ojaja II urged the people to eschew violence and remain law-abiding in order to partake of the good plans for Ife, which he is about to unfold. www.today.ng/news/national/98185/church-partners-ooni-on-supply-of-industrial-equipment

FG inaugurates cashew planting in Ife, plans processing factory (Ooni initiated the project) The Federal Government has inaugurated 2016 cashew planting season at Ogudu village in Ile-Ife, Osun State. The inauguration which was witnessed by the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, Governor Rauf Aregbesola and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Tuesday evening gave hope to farmers as the minister said the FG would soon establish Cashew Processing Factory in the town in other to add value to the commodity. Ogbeh said cashew had become second most profitable commodity after cocoa, while urging youths in the country to begin to plant the crop. The minister said investing in agriculture especially cashew and other crops would assist in luring away youths from the streets and remove their frustration as a result of the poor economic situation in the country. Aregbesola said,”Our government has identified agriculture as a key economic sector capable of turning around the general well-being of Nigerians. “We are fully ready to embark on full plantation of two million cashew trees every year for the next four years in order to maximize the embedded potential in the non-oil sectors. “It is regrettable that we found ourselves in this economic mess due to misapplication of priority and mismanagement of our commonwealth, but nevertheless, no stone would be left unturned by the current government to ensure that the country regained her lost glory in all sectors. “We will also build processing factory to process cashew which would be harvested in order to add value to them and to increase money to be generated from the crop.” The minister lauded the Ooni for having great passion to ensure the liberation of the youths in his domain from joblessness and poverty.Ogbe, who is a former national Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, blamed the poor economic situation in the country in the lack of proper planning by the last administration. He exonerated governors of states which were facing difficulties in paying their workers’ salary, saying the problem was not their fault but was caused by the poor economy. www.today.ng/news/national/134579/inaugurates-cashew-planting-ife-plans-processing-factory

Ooni Signs Mou With Us Coy To Construct $1.4bn Technology Hub In Ile-ife
THE Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a United States based company, identified as SpringPort Technological Group to build a technology, media city and agriculture incubation hub in the ancient town of Ile-Ife.
The development came barely two weeks to the return of the Ooni from the USA where he had earlier visited to seek involvement of Africans in Diaspora in his peace and unity agenda and solicit their support for the continent on developmental projects in agriculture, tourism, infrastructure and youth development.
Tribune Online gathered that with the MoU, the technological hub worth $1.4billion in its first phase is expected to facilitate massive employment of youths in Ile-Ife. After the MoU was signed, the start-up phase for master plan was to begin with investors in London and Asia.
Subsequently, the MoU would be presented to Elliot Jones representing Maya Angelo Foundation, Jason Harrison ofTredic Corporation, UK and some other American/Asian investors.
While signing the MoU, Oba Ogunwusi expressed optimism that the project would spur development across Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria and Africa at large, explaining that “the partnership with House of Oduduwa was fastened to ensure the success of the project.”
According to the monarch, “the initiative is an encouraging one and I urge the team not to relent. When I visited the USA, I met with our people in Diaspora and told them that people built USA, it did not just develop. Just like the USA citizens built America, I am glad that some Nigerians in the diaspora are also keen to the development of their mother land.”
“I am totally in support of the project. I have never started a project without completing it and I hope this will be completed within the stipulated time. We don’t want this to be a typical project that will start and won’t end and because of that we need to sign the MoU today. We will also be fulfilling a larger part of what is expected of us by making available the required land.”
In her remark, the President of Image Consulting Group, Mrs Remi Duyile, said the project was part of efforts to show that Nigerians in diaspora were ready to invest in their country.
She explained that her company was made to create the synergy between the Ooni and America-based firm when the King visited United State of America.
Duyile further stated that “as a strategic public relations and lobbying firm in the USA we were made to realise that there are a lot of business opportunities here in Ife when the Ooni visited us. We came here to verify and confirmed. Many Nigerians in diaspora are ready to invest in Nigeria if support is given.”
“We are ready to invest in Nigerians youth talent. The only the challenge is that many Nigerian leaders block most of us in the diaspora from contributing to the development of the country,” she added.
A representative of the American based firm, Mr Muyiwa Onitilo, explained that similar initiative helped India to generate over eight million employments, stressing that the hub was projected to create employment for 1000 youths in its first phase in Ile-Ife and Osun State.
He said, “The project will deliver a modern and progressive Ile-Ife with a strong real estate, technology and infrastructure backbone. It will deliver a master planned community that will allow residents to increase their productivity. Sixty per cent of those that will be employed are indigenes of the host community. This is an initiative to improve the home.”

Ooni calls for development of domestic tourist centres
Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has called for massive investment in the development of various tourists’ centres across the country, in order to generate employment and boost revenue. The monarch made the call in his palace, in Ile-Ife, while receiving an investor from Ekiti State, who is also Chairman, Prosperous Group of Companies, Abiodun Isinkaiye. He noted that the tourism sector has great potentials to lift up the economy at all levels, but regretted that the money-spinning venture has been neglected for long by the government and the private sector. The monarch said the nation has no option, but to embrace the tourism industry to enhance its revenue, particularly now that the price of crude oil has crashed to a ridiculous level. The Ooni, who is also investing in developing sites, which can attract tourists to his domain, said Nigeria was blessed with abundant places of interest, which tourists could visit for relaxation. Ogunwusi said, “Many Nigerians travel outside the country to visit places which are not as rich as the ones we have in the country.” He said he appreciated Isinkaiye’s investment interest to invest in his state, noting there was the need to spread development instead of concentrating in the big cities. www.today.ng/news/national/120125/ooni-calls-development-domestic-tourist-centres
