Ooni paying the price for humility. Ti o ba tera re sile, aye a te e mole. This is something I've learnt over time. He probably knows how chilled and friendly this Ooni is so he could afford to misbehave. You won't try this nonsense with his predecessor. The salutations should be the other way round. Besides, I've always wondered why that stool is relevant. It shouldn't be. I remember Elu and I had this discussion last year. He shouldn't even be attending Yoruba Obas meetings cos that institution isn't a Yoruba institution. Blame that on the passiveness of the Idejo families Anyway, whatever it is, the deed has been done and apologies won't even do much. This is the no 1 stool in Yorubaland. I wonder how he will survive this backlash. I doubt if things will ever remain the same between that palace and that of the Ooni. Very childish and unacceptable behavior from Akiolu. I'm speechless. Smh.

The Ooni too has a lot to learn. I am assuming he wasn't well groomed for the crown hence his gaffes and missteps since assuming the position.

Yeah I think so too Short_Biscuit. You know it's not so common seeing someone his age take up such positions these days. He will learn with time sha. I'm also not in support of the school of thought that says he has to be in the palace all the time. The man is still young . He needs to move around once in a while. It's all about maintaining a balance. People keep comparing him to Oba of Benin, that he should preserve this and that. Who that one epp for 2017? I wonder if Oba of Benin's inertness has helped stop the trafficking of Edo girls to Italy. Off point: all those projects he initiated at incumbency, how far with them? Any updates?

Shebi his friends, the Ibos are still dealing with him. He wants to add Yorubas to it.

Don't mind those usurpers! They are bringing shame to our culture by their useless actions. Imagine, kidnappers now find it easy to go into the palace to abduct a whole king. Abomination of the highest order. I read the account of that Oba that was kidnapped in Akoko and I was like sending all those usurpers to the guillotine. It's unheard of. Oba is oko osho oko aje.
Just like I've said in other platforms, if it is a sacrilege for a babalawo to aspire to be a bishop of a town or a Chief Imam of a town, then it is also an abomination for a Muslim or Christian to aspire to be the king of a town. There is a reason they called it a traditional stool. The reason why all this rubbish is happening is because most of them normally skip the real tradition in "iyewu" before coronation. If you know you don't believe in their ideals, why dragging the title with them? A time will come when we will chase all of them out of our respective palaces. Were it to be a real traditionalist, the oracle would have informed him of what would transpire at the occasion. I don't regard any Muslim or Christian king as Oba, they are just what they are: usurpers. Rubbish dede!!!

When I see Nigerian newspaper describing this as the Oba of Lagos "humiliating" the Ooni of Ife, I have to wonder what universe they are living in. The only person Oba Akiolu has "humiliated" is himself, by showing the world that he is a man of little class, and by disrespecting a throne that the entire Yoruba world recognizes as paramount. Regardless of how one feels about the present Ooni, behaving in such a disrespectful manner towards the throne is something any proper Yoruba person would find unacceptable.

If the man had any sense at all, he'd be issuing a proper apology, but instead he digs himself deeper into the hole his arrogance put him in.

It's high time these Idejo chiefs come together and stamp their authority. This man is not Oba of Lagos, he's Oba of Isale Eko, and he owns no land there. Aromire owns the land.
