Lol. Well my brother, personally I think I have enough proof to satisfy my mind that there's indeed a powerful being behind human existence. For one, the works of Tyndall and Louis Pasteur proved scientifically that what we have come to understand as 'life' can only come from another life -- law of biogenesis. In other words, inanimate matter can't give life, so that means another 'life-form' was originally responsible for starting the cycle of 'life' as we know it. Going by your logic, then I can also deduce that "God" which you think is a life-form must have spawned from another life-form... ...meaning some other "inexplicable being" out there created "God". And going by that same logic, another "weird being" created the "explicable being" that created "God"...and then infinite regression sets in....it goes on and on till person head go scatter! You mean a "God" out there created the millions of animal and plant species that's in this universe, each with its peculiarity? He created the millions of stars and planets the world over? If such a God exists... ...then my dreams of a foursome with Beyonce, Nikki minaj and CNN's Isha Sesay might come to pass. LMAO! Bro, you could be right you know. I think it's safe to say that there's so much our minds are incapable of knowing via the five senses, at least for now. I think the 'God' of a person (or persons) is having a ball watching us humans agonize as we try to figure out the many 'whys' of life. One thing's for sure, and that is that I've conquered the fears of the unknown that religion tried to guilt-trip me into having. I live everyday like it could be my last on earth and don't even bother myself about what happens after death. If there'll be a judgement after death, omo, I'm game and ready to face it coz I know life hasn't been fair to most humans who never even asked to be born in the first place. It'll be interesting to see how humans would be 'judged' by 'God'.

Merchantt , so far, na only you agree say one "God" dey up there. I think you need to repent. Rara, I shall remain a Christian for now. I'm a "Kiriyo" because my parents are Christians (CAC members). If I'm going to convert, it's going to be Our Own Gangan Yoruba Traditional Religion. Kind of Revert back to the IBILE. Our people(Ijeshas) used to worship Orishas before Oyinbo brought Christianity. We accepted it because they also brought schools and hospitals which helped us a lot. From here, na Ibile Religion straight. I believe there's a God/god somewhere. Yeah, I believe. Hinpele.

I really enjoying reading all your perspective on this subject. Thanks.
I guess it all boils down to respecting my neighbors spiritual perspective.
One quote that stuck with me is "had China colonized Nigeria, Nigerians in large, would question the thought of a higher being"

I'm an Atheist and a very proud one at that. There ain't no God! I know that for sure. I know it's the end of me the moment I breathe my last. There ain't no Heaven nor hell. And even if both places exist, trust me, I'll prefer hell. I'd meet some cool Niggers there. Tupac, Christopher Wallace, Nate Dogg, Fela, Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Tai Solarin, et al...and there ain't gonna be shortage of weed and bitches. I can also imagine how boring heaven's gonna be...No Play station 4, no chess, no having my dick sucked! One of the problems I have with this problematic, "Gawd-forsaken" country is the non-recognition of Atheists like me. When filling corporate and government forms, under the section for religion, you'll see only Christianity and Islam, no spaces for African traditional Religion and Atheism. Bunch of hypocrites. I remember going for a job interview in one of the oil multinationals here in Lagos about 3 years ago and the CFO asked me for my religion. I never expected such a question. I wonder wetin concern my religious beliefs and the job wey I dey find. Omor, I must confess, my liver fail me o. The CFO being a Yoruba man, I knew he'd either be a christian or a muslim. I told him I was not just a christian but a very good christian. He asked for my denomination, I said RCCG. He asked if I held any position in church, I told him I'm an usher...For my mind I just dey vex, dey para like who dem swear for... Emi, Usher? Wetin come vex me for everything be say I no come get the job at the end of the day, meanwhile, I don trade my soul and honour out...too bad! I would have been proud to tell the interviewer I'm an Atheist if I were to be in Europe or North America... Egbon mi, hell ke? Lmao Its against the law for companies to ask you about your religion. It has nothing to do with your skill level, performance and integrity. If you're a good person, you'll do go. If you're bad, you'll do bad. Period. Pastors kill, rape, lie, cheat etc.

I salute Yorubanger, he nailed it. I am a christian, I believe there is God up there, I also believe he's done his job by creating and giving us choice. A sane man should be able to decide for himself. I was raised as a christian but when I grew up, out of curiousity, I began to ask questions. Why would God promised to give a land that belonged to the Philistines to Israelis? Why would he choose Israelis as his chosen people when he's the same God that created us all? Why did he choose Isaac ahead of Ishmael? Why did he choose Jacob ahead of Esau? He even knew Esau was going to F before the dude fucked up. Why did he harden Pharaoh's mind even when the King had allowed Israelis to go? Why did he ask Joshua and the rest thugs to be killing and exterminating Phillistines, their Kings and forcefully take over their land? Why forcefuly take over peoples' land when he could have given them land elsewhere? Are Phillistines not human beings? Why did he create them to become servitudes to Israelis? I studied Bible but couldn't get all the answers I needed, that led me to study more about christian religion. I bought various books written by christian authors and later those written by muslim authors. Then I became confused. I almost became a Muslim till I read "Unveil Islam written by Turk Brothers" and "Who's this Allah". Then I realized, both religions are scams. Now, I just attend church service whenever I feel like attending(say twice or thrice in a month). I now use my "Common Sense" to think and decide for myself. No Pastor will tell me how to live my life, not even the Holy Bible. Yeah, some verses written in Bible are in conflict with our Yoruba Culture and Tradition. Now, I believe in Live and Let Others Live. Worship whatever God favours you. Follow your mind, use your common sense to decide for yourself. Respect other peoples' opinion and religion. Respect our Yoruba Culture and Tradition. Aye yi o le, just make sure you use your head to decide for yourself and do the right thing. Lobatan. You won't find the answers in the bible because the bible was written for men and by men.

Why can't this same god stop the extinction of the plants and animals he created? This year, the last white rhino on earth was killed by a hunter. If these animals and plants are so beautiful and a reflection of gods love, why are they going extinct? ajanaku, make we start our own babalawo service jor. I'll be the priestess, you my assistant.

I am a Christian simply because I subscribe to the philosophy Jesus Christ stood for. Which is simply love your neighbors like you love yourself. Treat others the way you want to be treated. But count me out when it comes to the infallibility of the bible with all the myths (especially in the old testament) and dogmas. I believe there is an intelligent design to what we observe all around us and we have a purpose in life. @ Bolded is exactly my belief. Ajanaku is on his own. He needs Jesus lols

Religion is a scam, brother!
The only advantage religion (except Islam, of course) has brought to mankind in the last few centuries is the relative peace, benevolence, love, camaraderie and in some instances, education and health facilities (In places like Nigeria).
