THE Federal government has announced the introduction of one-state-one-product initiative as part of efforts to boost export and diversify the economy.
Director General of the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Segun Awolowo who disclosed this at a forum in Ibadan said under the new initiative, each state is to identify at least one product for export.
Awolowo who was represented at the meeting held in the conference room of the federal secretariat by NEPC Lagos Zonal Controller, George Enyiekpun said such products must have potentials for income generation, employment and wealth creation.
According to the NEPC chief, the product must be one that can be developed, processed and marketed.
“At each stage of product development, necessary information is out in place to assist farmers and processors”, he said
He explained that the meeting was to look at how far Oyo state has gone in the initiative and the challenges so far.
