The Chairman, House Committee on Youth Development, Hon. Segun Adekola, has called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in the power sector to salvage the economy. The lawmaker said any government interested in reviving “a dying economy like ours” must take power sector seriously. Hon. Adekola who represents Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1, in a statement in Ado Ekiti yesterday said all efforts to revive the economy will be a deliberate waste if drastic measures were not taken to develop the power sector. He said, “It is unacceptable and shameful for a country like Nigeria to be struggling with how to generate 4,000 megawatts level of electricity. The president must declare a state of emergency in the sector in order to salvage the economy.” Dailytrust
