colonial pikinJamaica Weighs Replacing Queen Elizabeth and Legalizing PotChange to constitution would make Caribbean nation a republic Governor General unveils 2016-17 legislative agenda in speech Jamaican lawmakers will debate a constitutional amendment that would replace Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II as head of state and make the island a republic. The proposal is a “major action item” on the new government’s 2016-2017 legislative agenda, and would replace the Queen with a Non-Executive President, Governor General Sir Patrick Allen said Thursday in a speech to parliament posted on the government’s website. Jamaican Labour Party leader Andrew Holness scraped a narrow win in general elections in February as voters opted for promises of tax cuts and a higher minimum wage over the previous government’s austerity program. The legislative agenda also includes a proposal to set fixed election dates and term limits for the Prime Minister, as well as a proposal to fully legalize marijuana for “specified purposes.” The measures would need to be passed by Parliament to become law. The government also plans to set up a single anti-corruption body, and reform the tax and pension system, Allen said. The Queen is also head of state of other Caribbean nations, including Barbados and the Bahamas. www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-04-14/jamaica-to-weigh-replacing-queen-elizabeth-and-legalizing-dope

Oh I get it.You believe the blacks will replace the Imperialist and will continue from where 'they' stopped, lording themselves over others.Well, that is just the reality of black people. When a black man is educated he in turn will use it to exploit his people. Anyways,It's a good feeling when your head of state is not some 'foreign being' and God save the queen is no longer part of/or your national/royal anthem.

I have a reservation against decriminalizing marijuana because of abuse which is very prevalent in Jamaica. Nah nah. By the way, Jamaicans want their government take tough actions against T&T for breach of immigration rules of CARICOM for turning back their countrymen.Your take on that?

By the way, Jamaicans want their government take tough actions against T&T for breach of immigration rules of CARICOM for turning back their countrymen.Your take on that? It's not that.Trinidad and Tobago has her own President and I am yet to see the big difference between us and other islands that still have the Queen as its head.I understand my Caribbean peeps will feel a certain amount of pride but colonial structures still exist. What is the sense of beating my chest and saying yo my president is Jamaican y'all Jamaican ! when the Caribbean mouth is still gonna be on USA,UK etc balls sack. The prime minister of UK visited Jamaican and when Jamaica asked for reparation he offered them to build a prison to house Jamaican criminals being deported for the UK.Jamaica had no mouth lol. Regarding that issue between Trinbago and Jamaica, the Caribbean Single Market Economy (CSME) allows free flow between the islands under various categories.I will fall under the university graduate category so I can apply to stay in Jamaica indefinitely without marriage yada yah. The thing is you don't get that certificate automatically...you have to apply to the country you plan to settle down in.The issue is that Jamaicans feel they have the right to flood other people's country. Some falsify documents...immigration turned them away because they didn't have much evidence of upkeep. They don't understand how CSME works....it's just blatant entitlement. It's like Nigerians thinking they are entitled to flood Ghana due to ECOWAS but there are rules, and conditions before you can settle down in Ghana. Trinidad has over 26,000 illegal Jamaicans and a gf was telling me in her area both Guyanese and Jamaicans are fighting fellow Trinidadians for their own land as they are squatting. Can I as a Trinidadian go to Jamaica and do that?Jamaica is only threatening us because she knows she is our fourth largest market spending about US$0.5 billion. This is the fourth threat o.Personally if I was the Prime Minister I will tell Jamaica fire bun them...steupssssssss. Trinidad is going through a recession at the moment,we don't owe them nothing ...That's just me tho...some of my fellow Trinis think like me and some believe that it was wrong to turn them back.As for me most who are coming to our Island they aren't skilled workers or coming to contribute anything.Trinidad has too much illegal immigrants...how can an island of just a little over 1 million have over 100,000 illegal immigrants. We tolerate too much crap.At least my Bahamians brothers and sisters no deal with that because they opted out of the CSME.Why Jamaica don't open her mouth for the UK,USA,Canada etc?...but she wants to bully us because she is the largest English speaking country yet flooding smaller islands like Barbados,Grenada etc looking for jobs to survive.Guy no think I hate Jamaicans btw but I have little tolerance for their crap.I believe in one Caribbean but it's no excuse for you to be overwhelming other countries due to your government not fulfilling her duties.

I don't smoke weed but I see nothing wrong with its use. There are much more destructive habits that are legal.I have yet to see marijuana taking it's toll on the health care system, vehicular accidents, domestic violence etc like alcohol yet alcohol is legal. Trinbagonians smoke a lot of marijuana also, so I don't see it merely as a Jamaican thing.I think Jamaicans should decriminalize it and create an industry out of it...them say Jam weed strong...premium weed so it will gain her some foreign dollars.I hope they decriminalize it here also, as I said there quite a bit of black youths locked away in jails for marijuana which I don't deem to be sensible at all.Our present Attorney General was speaking about that recently so hopefully as the conversation continues on prison reforms ,Trinbagonians and the legal system will seek to decriminalize it and focus on much more pressing issues.
