The little lad is Fantastic. All he needs now is to refine his skills in a proper tertiary institution, and find a sponsor to finance his ideas/research.
I hope his talents do not go to waste, and that Battabox has created enough publicity for the right people to discover this bright talent and invest in the Young man. I felt proud watching his inventions.

Yes, the lad is clever, but he's not quite at Thomas Edison levels just yet. Still, in a better environment than Nigeria, who knows what he could achieve?

I hope his talents do not go to waste, and that Battabox has created enough publicity for the right people to discover this bright talent and invest in the Young man. I felt proud watching his inventions. The big problem I see is that Nigeria just doesn't offer the right incentives for those who have the funds to invent in talented young people like this. For investors to care, the country would have to offer not just the important basics like power and good roads, but also strong protection for intellectual property rights, reduced corruption, and few bureaucratic barriers: in short, the sorts of things that make taking risks on new ideas attractive. I just don't see any of that happening anytime soon, given the limited vision and intellect of the man in Aso Rock. If only Fashola were President instead! Anyway, the best thing that could happen for this boy would be for someone to give him a scholarship to go and study in a better country. Let him spend some time at a good boarding school in the UK or America, so he can later proceed to a university like MIT or CalTech, and graduate to make a real mark in the world. Leaving him in Nigeria would be the worst possible outcome.

Well I think the guy needs another atmosphere to develop. He has it but he needs someone to really finetune what he has got. The principal was even saying na patch patch dem take promote am reach SS1 sef. He reminds me of a friend of mine when we were in secondary school. The only thing the guy was good at in school was killing 'okete'. As the class captain, I just advised the guy not to bury his talents. And I was handsomely rewarded by some bush meat every morning in the class then. I later got to know that the guy is into supply of bush meat to most restaurants in Abeokuta. But on a more serious note, the only way he could get noticed is by taking all of his inventions to JETS competition. There, someone may be interested in him or annual NTA Children Competition. Me I need that USB fan to cool down my dongle wey dey hot like say dem put am for fire.

AgbongboAkala , I think I've heard of that JETS competition before Abeg educate me on what it's all about again JETS is an acronym for Junior Engineers Technicians and Scientists. It's a national competition comprising two categories: quiz and practicals. In the quiz categories, there is local governments zonal competitions, state zonal competitions, and national grand finale. The practical categories are where the 'not-too-brilliant ones' who couldn't fit into the quiz competition flexed muscles. It was divided into two freelance and themed. In the freelance categories, one is permitted to bring any inventions or innovations. Whereas in the themed category, one is only expected to develop inventions along a theme. In those days when we were in secondary school in Abeokuta, JETS used to be the real deal for the science students. You know most of the science students would not want to participate in Lit and Debate. It was a general belief that Lit & Debate is meant for the 'dullards' aka arts and commercial students. So, dem no born them make dem flex JETS with us but we fit flex Lit & Debate with them. Ogun state used to be the best in overall winners in the competition nationally. As at the time I was in sec school in the early nineties, dem no born anybody make dem drag with Ogun state. Na we be baba. The real competition was between schools within the states eg Iganmonde in Ota and Abeokuta Grammar School in Abeokuta. Sometimes some of us wey belong to other schools do come once in a while to drag it with them. Dem dey call us dark horse at that time. Oh boy, victory sweet oh. I could remember all those Vivian Fowlers College for VI the way dem dey pursue me for emerging the best in Physics and Maths. If to say phone day that time, maybe na one of the fine girls go be my wife now. Abeg you come make me remember the good old days. If you come from Ogun state to any national competitions, all other states go dey beef us because we be perennial champions. The funniest things be say na we students dey pursue quiz competitions up and down. Our 'masters' go dey pursue projects because for them na im be the real 'koko' where money dey. If your project is chosen to represent the state, omo those 'masters' don hammer. But for us, the koko be the kind eyes wey all those beautiful damsels go dey take look you particularly when you emerged as champion in a subject that is their own albatross. So this guy stands a high chance of winning the freelance project because of the concept and using local raw materials. One of my projects in those days was preparing a mosquito coil from combination of herb. So that is small things I know about JETS. But I think now they have Cowbell Mathematics Competition and Shell National Quiz Competition.
